air flow

gerry give us some idea today, he said we need test the air flow in the pipe, but the problem is the air flow meter can not test the exhaust air flow, because of the hot temperature, it will melt the meter, we can made a manometer instead of the air flow meter, but the first thing we have to do is install a ring in the pipe, and weld another two small tubes on each side of the ring.

install the pressure gauge and welding the gasket&adapter

today we still working in the workshop, we weld the gasket to the pipes and join to the adapter, also we weld the tubes on the pipe to connect the pressure gauge. as you can see in the photo, i bought the gauge from rosebank road, it really different to find the gauge, at first we went to repco, but they do not have the gauge, then we went to the BOC gas, they have the different gauge that we can not used, after that i went the rosebank road there is shop called "black..." ,i bought a pair cost 76 dollars. i am so happy i can find the gauge.

keep going in the workshop

today we still keep going our project, we extended the pipe, and i use the exhaust high temperature silicone seal the gasket we made~

new semester coming

after the summer holiday we come back to UNITEC, times goes very fast,we will do the modification today. The modification was done by removing the auxiliary valve, 4 screws, all air valves, brackets, gasket and O-ring. A steel sheet plate has being used with a silicone paste to seal the hole as we only need a throttle lever, butterfly and TPS sensor. The butterfly is located between a 1meter long exhaust pipe and it is control by cable which restricted the flow of gas (air) when the driver releases the accelerator paddle.

Main component

Throttle body assembly was removed from a (4-AFE) engine from pick a part together with the throttle cable. we find two of them, cost about $70, also i went to onehunga bought a piece of iron sheet

find parts

the engine we want to use is :V8 1uz FE Toyota engine The 4.0 L all-alloy 1UZ-FE debuted in 1989 in the first generation Lexus LS 400/Toyota Celsior and the engine was progressively released across a number of other models in the Toyota/Lexus range. The engine is over square by design, with a bore size of 87.5 mm (3.44 in) and stroke of 82.5 mm (3.25 in). It has proved to be a strong, reliable and smooth power plant with features such as 6-bolt main bearings and belt-driven quad-camshafts. The water pump is also driven by the cam belt. The connecting rods and crankshaft are constructed of steel. The pistons are hypereutectic. the exhaust pipe we asked Gerry and took from Unitec, we cut off 2 pic pipe,

Automobile Exhaust system

Exhaust system is created to lessen the noise level as well as the pollutant content of the exhaust in order to diminish the effects on the environmental caused by the vehicles. In automobile, the exhaust system lead the gases created by internal burning engine form exhaust ports of its cylinders till the tailpipe and then out into the atmosphere. Compression and Vacuum: Engine compression testing requires extensive amount of time particularly when there is difficulty in removing the spark plugs and for its exact check, it really requires compression gauge. Engine will fail to start when there is not enough compression, therefore, for an engine to run it requires these things. The availability of sufficient compression to raise air temperature of air fuel mixture, engine should be high enough so that a spark can easily start adequate combustion process. Once the cranking vacuum is more than 3”, there is a great possibility for an engine to run as there is enough compression.
